Most people are such cheerleader softies that they won't ever tell you that something you created sucks. It's not constructive to tell people that their work is good when you haven't even looked at it carefully. I hate that. I design because I care. I look at the details (within the context of the bigger picture) because the details are important. A lot of self-professed experts overlook the details thinking they don't matter. I know they've read Tipping Point and yet they still don't get it. When you design for the lowest common demonitor you're gonna end up with shitty pieces.
Okay, so by now you're trying to think of ways to argue with me about this. I don't want to get into it. Designing sucks. Caring sucks. Nobody else really cares unless it's about making money and jerking off.
Posted by Monica at March 24, 2006 03:05 PMThat was an extremely well-written post. Really, you couldn't have done better. Good job Monica! People are going to love it. I can't wait to read the rest of the way through. Your punctuation is perfect. The words are all in the right order... who could possibly dislike it? Monica, I like it! I think it's good.
