Best Wedding Ever

All other weddings will pale in comparison. Don't believe me?

Here's some video of the post-ceremony action. (Watch for me being carried into the pool.)

Take that!

I got a new job! w00t! *happy dance*

More dinero! A staff of designers! Bigger office! Nicer computer equipment! I was told no one in the company is crazy! Apparently their printer sucks too though.

The things I do

I was putting on my work out clothes and was thinking, "Where's my iPod?" I looked in the usual spots and couldn't find it anywhere.

Then, as I was pulling my clothes out of the washing machine, I see my headphones wrapped around some jeans.

Oh.

Shit.

I pull the jeans out to find my Shuffle still attached to the headphones. And I'm thinking I totally blew $100 by leaving my Shuffle in my jacket pocket and throwing it into the wash. (I don't care at all about the headphones.) Tentatively, I pressed play. IT FUCKING WORKS.

Wow.

Girl Talk Pretty One Day

(Girl Talk's Gregg Gillis)

After he smashed the wine glass on his head at Friday's Wired Magazine's party, I knew he was my new nerd-boy crush.

And ooh, ooh, the video of him singing Nirvana's "Scentless Apprentice." Watch for me taking photos towards the very end of the video.

I can't decide if my friends are nice or mean

"Friend": but anyway, you need to go get a big tub of ice cream from albertsons, youre not going to feel hungry. you need to force yourself to eat.

Me: i'll try to eat.

"Friend": no try! do eat, or ill come tomorrow and stuff you full of food.

Also, being sick and single is probably one of the worst things ever. You can't exactly ask your buddies to cuddle with you to make you feel better. :sigh:

OMG. Native software!!!!

Adobe Creative Suite 3.0 launch confirmed for March 27

I am so PSYCHED! Now CS won't crash on my MacBook Pro like every 10 minutes. PSYCHED! I am also rather curious to see the new Dreamweaver and Flash (maybe I will finally overcome my Flash gag reflex).

YAY!!!

Don't let my big nose, glasses, and taste for gefilte fish fool you

Monica, you should always tell a Jew up front that you're not Jewish even if you look as Jewish as you do. That's why I told you right off the bat that I wasn't Korean. I didn't want you laboring under false pretenses.

I'm Rick James, bitch!

Dave Chappelle? Amazing.

He entertained the audience for 4 solid hours, making it his longest show ever. (I got home just after 4AM.) I was very excited and lucky to be there.

I would tell you about some of the things he covered but I don't want to spoil it for you if you're going to Punchline this week. Remember to show up early. I got there 45 minutes before the show started and that seemed like the right time to show up. Remember to leave your cameras at home and you have to shut off your phone while in the venue so make arrangements to meet your friends beforehand.

YAY! A computer that works!!!

I picked up my new, shiny (rather sheen-y actually) in the box laptop this morning.
* 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
* 1GB memory
* 120GB hard drive
*** NO CHARGE :)

I know it's not as exciting as an iPhone but to me it is.

DJ Work Clothes

Today I was downtown trying to hunt down jeans that fit (these-- perfect for those of us without much junk in the trunk) and a black button down shirt. I tried Bloomingdale's, I tried Express, I tried Fourth and Towne (blech!), and finally I ended up at Banana Republic and found a very nicely fitting shirt. A totally bizarre thing happened while I was digging through a pile of sweaters-- the overhead speakers started playing Cocteau Twins! Perhaps BR is not always so mainstream.

BTW, it's sale mania downtown. Banana Republic has stretchy tanks for $6 and at Bloomie's I saw 40% off LeSportsac bags. (Tokidoki bags!... but they didn't have the one I'm looking for.)

Twenty-five... and two days

People that remembered my birthday this year: 7 (Really good number! Are you guys using Google Calendar now?)

My favorite thing to do is go out for a special dinner on my birthday so I went to Perbacco as suggested by Tablehopper. The patrons were a little too gray haired for the restaurant to be really hip, but I still think it's a hot spot with outstanding service that's usually found at more established restaurants.

Perbacco is focused on northern Italian cuisine which means cheese and butter galore! We chose the a pear endive salad with a honey vinaigrette with generous chunks of excellent gorgonzola. The salad had some interesting flavors going on, not ones that were familiar to me. The pillowy soft nettle gnocchi had just the right amount of the aforementioned butter and gorgonzola-- unspeakably delicious. The semolina encrusted skate was probably the least impressive component of dinner. The hamachi crudo with blood orange juice, fennel, and orange oil was almost a teeny bit sweet. Again, a new sort of flavor experience for me. Finally, for dessert was a poached pear with a creamy, whipped soft cream, sprinkled with pistachios. Boozy, neither too firm nor too soft, and just sweet enough.

I shouldn't forget the Pearlini cocktail I had either: Prosecco (it's already off to a good start!), pear brandy, pear puree, and cinnamon. So good!

Next time I go I want to try more pastas, some grappa, and the cheese plate!

(Thank you, DZ.)

Lappy is no longer with us

Apple is finally giving up on my lemon G4 PowerBook laptop, Lappy, and they are REPLACING it with a NEW 15" MacBook. Now, Apple kept telling me that replacements are rare but now we all know that it does happen.

If anyone knows of any wacko blessing rituals I can perform over my new laptop, please do forward that information to me. Maybe some prayers to the patron saint of computers, Saint Isidore?

See, as soon as the holidays are over, I get some good news.

New sea creature friend

DZ got me this absolutely adorable knit octopus from Branch after I posted it to Thisnext. It's made in rural Kenya from natural materials. Definitely an heirloom toy to hold on to. Oh, and sooooo cute! (Thanks, DZ)

Lappy is happy!

Oh, Apple Store, you have, at least temporarily, restored my faith in your products. This time Lappy was repaired at the store instead of being shipped out to Texas. When I went to pick it up they told me all about what happened to Lappy while she was away from me.

Tests, tests, and more tests. New logic board (the second in this machine), new RAM, and oddly a new serial number. I'm crossing my finger that it'll stay in good working order. I was so getting ready to write angry, and likely useless, emails to Mr. Jobs.

Wind me up

Playboy lists the top 25 sexiest novels and The Wind-Up Chronicles made the list. Hot. I think Murakami's erotic descriptions are pretty fucking hot.
