How I interpret your actions

Today the Bliss Spa VW bus rolled in front of my office to conduct a taste test of brownies. After eating A LOT of brownies, the lady serving the brownies gave me a sample of "Lovehandler"-- some kind of moisturizer that's supposed to tone your abs (lies!!!). I took one and then she gave me three more packs.

Thanks, I really needed the ab toning moisturizer after those 5 brownies. UGH.

Eerie

On Saturday this boy at the Cut and Paste design tournament came up to me and started talking to me. He stood next to me during the final round. We chatted sporadically. As things were wrapping up he asked me if was going to the after party. I said I was meeting a friend elsewhere (which was true). I said it was nice to meet him and I ran off towards my friends. I ended up going to the after party anyway. I felt kinda lame about having just fled the scene even though the guy seemed nice enough. He wasn't at the after party. Second chance, lost.

I told a friend about what had happened (because I'm like this and think about things for too long). I told him that I felt bad because he seemed interesting but that if it's meant to be I'd see him again.

Lo and behold, today I saw him. Errie.

ENFJs (according to my friend)

NFs tend to expect "too much" from people, emotionally anyway
they are idealistic about relationships and get crushed if their idealism doesn't hold up against reality

For me, at least, that's quite true. I would rather like to think that I hold high standards for the people I'm close with-- I want to bring out everyone's best.

The unbearable sleeplessness

I am 100%, completely, utterly, awake. It's 2:41am. I worked on my new website, read the new issue of Lucky, and went through work emails.

Insomnia recap:
Sunday-- no sleep
Monday-- no sleep
Tuesday-- a bit of sleep
Wednesday-- a bit of sleep
Thursday-- drunken coma sleep
Friday-- AWAKE

Please god, let me sleep!

Third time's the charm

Mostly, I'm not a fan of Stark but this is probably his best Fossil watch design yet. I almost want to wear it.

September and April

I can't even begin to tell you in how many ways September (generally the beginning of the month and sometimes including the very end of August) and April (generally the end of the month and the beginning of May) have the been months when everything happens.

So maybe now when something happens in September and April, I should know that the effects will be formative and lasting.

Back to school

Buying a new pair of sneakers always signaled a new start of the school year for me--until college of course. Then, I had to show up with new pencils (Dixon), new pens (Uniball Micro), and ink for my Rapidographs. How design school changed the little things...

And so, Core77 has appropriately put together a very nice Hack to School Guide for design students. It's spot on. Oh and the part about IKEA Hacker? My roomie and I totally made that cocktail umbrella lamp.

I see them coming, I see them go

i am paper
you are the pen
the lines you draw shape me
they think they can read me
but there's so much between

i am paper
you are the pen
the lines you wrote
i've read them
they say things you don't mean

i am paper
shapes change on me
squares and circles
dots and strikes
pictures they make
but feeling dissipates

i am paper
folded into a bird

you are the pen
riding me down

i am paper
floating below

i am the paper
unfolded and flightless

A deep, slow, long, soft sigh

Friend #1: Tells me I'm pretty and successful and don't need to take shit from some dick

Friend #2: Tells me that I will get what I want as long as I keep trying

Friend #: Tells me he thinks I don't know what I want, even though I think I do

This is when I let out the deep, slow, long soft sigh and turn on Elliot Smith... "It's always been wait and see, a happy day and then you pay..."
